Udaipur is known as lake city in and situated in the Aravali mountain range at the height of approx 1500 feet. Rajasthan state is known to be desert state through out India as well as abroad. But, those who visit Udaipur, they might be pleasantly surprised to find Udaipur all greens!
Even during peak of summer, mid May to mid June of the year, Udaipur has many places which remain green and make ideal habitat for some birds to nest.
Such small place is Jhameswar, approx 40KM from Udaipur city. This place has a temple and small anicut which store some water through out the year. Due to this, there it has greens through out the year and making it suitable location to breed for many birds like Paradise Fly Catcher, Indian Pitta, common king fisher to name some.
So, Jhameswar is a place for birding during summer in Udaipur where one can expect to see many interesting and beautiful birds. Recently, we went there on 5th Jun 2019 and we were pleasantly surprised to find Stork Billed King Fisher as well, apart from Paradise Flycatcher and Indian Pitta.
Its best to visit this place in the morning, though evening/afternoon can also be very fruitful.
